Library Assistant - Digital Scholarship
Now hiring for Fall 2025 - Library Assistant
Rod Library is seeking to fill a library assistant position in our Digital Scholarship Unit.
The Rod Library Digital Scholarship Unit is looking for a student to assist with routine tasks related to the UNI ScholarWorks website. The purpose of UNI ScholarWorks is to collect, preserve, and make available the digital research and creative and scholarly output from the University of Northern Iowa community. The Digital Scholarship Unit is open during business hours Monday-Friday. No weekend or evening hours are available or required. Work tasks include, but are not limited to, updating the author directory and website, sending emails using the platform’s templates, drafting metadata, and uploading articles.
Students in this position will have the opportunity to gain experience in the following areas to support their future career path:
- Technology: Student will learn to utilize Google Suites, Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Excel in a professional setting; Student will gain experience with scanning equipment and scanner settings necessary to produce high quality scans.
- Communication: Student will develop professional written communication skills through sending emails in a professional setting.
- Critical Thinking: Student will develop critical thinking skills through independent project work, using different skills based on each project.
Number of Openings: 1
Hourly Wage Rate: $11.00
Hours Per Week: 8-10
Schedule: Academic year only (fall and spring semesters)
Preferred start date: August 25, 2025
Required qualifications:
- Basic knowledge of Google Suite.
- Strong written communication skills.
- Attention to detail.
