Digital Communications Assistant
Position Title: Digital Communications Assistant
Reports To: Hannah Dutcher, Digital Communications Specialist
Terms of Employment:
- Hours: Approximately 10-20 hours per week for the academic year (and during the summer, if possible). Internship credit available.
Compensation:
- $12 per hour starting salary
Job Description:
- Creates high-quality content for social media channels, including writing engaging social posts and producing/editing short videos if needed.
- Maintains the UNI Foundation and UNI Alumni Association’s social media accounts and posts content under the direction of the Digital Communications Specialist.
- Creates and writes content following an existing social media calendar.
- Brainstorms ideas for new social media posts, contests, etc.
- Monitors social media platforms including Facebook, X, Instagram and LinkedIn.
- Assists in photography and content gathering for events run by the Alumni Association and Foundation.
- Assists in maintaining the foundation and alumni association’s websites and email communications.
- Supports the Director of Advancement Communications, Communications Coordinator and Digital Communications Specialist in other various projects, communication initiatives and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Pursuing a B.A. degree in Communication Studies, Interactive Digital Studies, Marketing or related field preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate well in various settings including with alumni or donors.
- Strong understanding of and familiarity with the AP Style Guide and associated grammar, punctuation, style and copy editing rules.
- Familiar with the Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and basic photography skills.
- Familiar with basic video editing in either Tiktok, Instagram Reels, Adobe Premiere Pro, CapCut, or related program.
- Enthusiastic pride of being a UNI student.
- Open and excited to be in video content.
- Self‐starter who needs little direction or guidance.
- Able to work as a team member and independently.
- Able to learn new technology.
- Pays attention to detail and manages projects efficiently.
- Brings new ideas to the table and enthusiasm to their work.
