Position Title: Study Abroad Student Assistant
Position description: The Study Abroad Student Assistant position acts as the first point of contact for clients of the Study Abroad Center (SAC), serving as a contact person for students interested in study abroad. They also assist the full-time SAC staff with various tasks and projects related to SAC operations. Below are some of the related responsibilities and duties of a SAC Study Abroad Student Assistant.
Reception Area
- Assist in acknowledging and greeting everyone who enters and leaves the office
- Handle visitors’ questions and concerns professionally, patiently, and courteously
- Answer the phone, transfer calls, or take messages appropriately
- Inform other staff when their appointment has arrived
- Scan passports, label scans, and file electronically
- Actively offer assistance to clients through email, phone, or in-person communication
- Filing documents in online systems
- Taking photos for clients. SAC offers to take passport photos
- Participate in the SAC outreach activities and events, as needed.
- Assist with recruitment projects such as chalking for events, button making, and event preparation
- Assist with reviewing student application materials and follow up regarding components to be completed
- Assist with updating and creating documents such as flyers, program guides, flight summaries, Google forms, doodle polls, etc.
- Independently research programs to stay current with changing information
- Check the SAC mailbox daily. Place mail in appropriate mailboxes.
- General office clean-up
- Clean student and front desks, chair armrests, keyboards, monitors, computer mice, telephones, and doorknobs with appropriate cleaning materials
- Maintaining the Copy Room/ Office Supply Area. When supplies are low, inform the full-time staff to re-order.
- Assist any SAC staff member in daily activities and/or special projects
Qualifications:
- Candidates for the Study Abroad Student Assistant position must meet the following:
- Must be available to work at least 8-12 hours a week. Commitment expected is two semesters minimum.
- Previous international travel experience by the position start date preferred (not required)
- Customer service skills
- Have strong written and oral communication skills
- Be detail oriented and highly organized
- Desire to work with students who express interest in study away and enthusiasm for study abroad and its value

Compensation: $10 per hour
Terms of Employment:
- For the Academic Year: 8 to 12 hours per week, beginning August, 2025 and ending May, 2026.
