Job Title:

Team TK Mascot

Purpose:

Embody the University of Northern Iowa's brand and spirit by serving as “TK” mascot character in a wide variety of events and activities, as well as assisting in the planning and execution of a variety of outreach efforts, including events, social media, community activities and more. At this time only the TK position is open.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be a current UNI student
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must express enthusiasm for UNI and have a strong sense of Panther Pride
  • Must be available to work nights, weekends and some events during the summer months

Responsibilities:

  • Perform as “TK” Mascot at community appearances, athletic, social events, etc.
  • Perform at events throughout the entire calendar year, including summer and extended breaks as needed
  • Transporting Team TC/TK members to and from off-campus events and transporting event materials and supplies to on and off-campus locations
  • Participate in regular team meetings to assess the effectiveness of the outreach events and brainstorm new ideas
  • Promoting UNI at events at on-campus and community outreach events
  • Be available to assist with other tasks as needed

Preferences:

  • Previous performing experience
  • Previous involvement in student organizations
  • Previous work experience in promotional/event positions or in outreach/student engagement
  • Possess a warm, engaging and energetic personality
  • Be independent and self-motivated, flexible and adaptable
  • Have the ability to multi-task and respond to priorities quickly and efficiently
  • Ideal candidates will be able to fit into the costume
  • “TK”: 5’4”-5’7”

Essential Functions:

  • Lifting, carrying and transporting materials up to 40 lbs
  • Walking or standing for extended periods of time (1-2 hours)
  • Driving a University-owned vehicle
  • Dancing, running, walking, jumping and other movements with limited visibility
  • Must be able to wear and work in suit comfortably

Hourly wage: $11/hour, not to exceed 20 hours/week
