Student Health Center Administrative Assitant

Job Title:  Student Health Center Student Employee

Reports to: Assistant Director of Nursing

Department:  Student Health Center

 

Responsibilities:

  • Under direct supervision, daily prepares front desk operations and check-in kiosks/computers to open clinic; maintains patient confidentiality and privacy; performs related clerical tasks; greets all students and visitors to the health center; answers phones; schedules appointments according to established procedures; collects and enters current health insurance information into electronic health record; maintains accurate and current patient files in electronic health record i.e. student status, insurance information, best-reached phone number; reschedules appointments and makes reminder calls for appropriate appointments according to established procedure; provides information to clinic staff and other entities; communicates with staff; assists students, family members, and visitors with various needs to enhance customer service; collects immunization records and enters data into electronic health record; scans all immunization records and health information into electronic health record; obtains signed release for student medical record requests and faxes to designated outside provider; and manages incoming faxes and routes to appropriate staff. (80%)
  • Assists with various counseling center and health clinic duties as assigned. (20%)

 

Preferred:

  • Major in health related field

 

Skills Necessary:

  • Ability to maintain patient/client confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of general clerical procedures.
  • Skill in communication, proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Knowledge of computers and relevant software applications.
  • Ability to maintain respectful and effective communication and approach towards patients/clients, visitors and fellow staff members.
  • Skill in use of office equipment.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately and follow health center policies.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to receive constructive guidance and instruction.

 

Work Schedule/Pay:

  • Clinical hours are not provided for this position.
  • Wage begins at $13.00/hour.
  • Number of hours per week varies, approximately 10 per week (but could be more and less at certain times of the year).
  • Weekly work schedules may be established according to the employee's academic schedule and other commitments; once the schedule is established, however, it should be followed unless variance is approved by the supervisor.
