Grounds Assistant

  • Starting Wage: $16.00 per hour
  • Commitment: We are seeking students who are able to work consecutive semesters in the department to ensure continuity of campus care.

Shift Schedule

We offer consistent scheduling to help you balance work with your academic commitments:

  • Summer & Extended Breaks: 6:00 am – 2:30 pm (Up to 40 hours per week)
  • Academic Year: 6:00 am – 10:00 am (Up to 20 hours per week)

Job Duties

The Grounds Assistant is responsible for the upkeep and beautification of the campus exterior. Primary duties include:

  • Turf Management: Operating mowers, edgers, and string-trimmers to maintain lawn areas.
  • Horticulture Support: Planting, weeding, and mulching flower beds and campus greenery.
  • Campus Cleanliness: Removing litter, leaves, and debris from sidewalks, parking lots, and common areas.
  • Seasonal Maintenance: Assisting with snow removal, salting, and winterization during cold weather months.
  • Equipment Oversight: Cleaning and performing basic maintenance checks on hand tools and power equipment.

Requirements: Candidates must be willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions and be capable of standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 lbs. No prior experience is necessary; we will provide all required equipment training.
