TRIO Educational Talent Search

TRIO Educational Talent Search Cedar Rapids is seeking 2-4 virtual tutors. The ideal candidates will work with students in grades 6th-12th who attend six schools in the Cedar Rapids Community School District.  
Responsibilities:
- Provide tutoring to 6th -12th graders in a specialized content area.
- Maintain and submit accurate and timely tutoring records.
- Attend professional staff meetings as needed.
Subject Areas Needed:
- Math, Science, English/Language Arts, and other areas based on students’ needs.
Competencies:
- Must be a highly motivated individual capable of working independently with minimal supervision, knowledgeable, open-minded, and friendly.
- Must have excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must possess leadership skills and be self-motivated.
- Must possess critical thinking/problem solving skills.
- Must be flexible, trustworthy, and have the physical ability to fully participate in all program activities.
- Must be accountable with a strong attendance record.
- Prefer an individual with experience working with youth of low-income and first-generation backgrounds and skill levels.
Required
- At least a sophomore with a minimum GPA of 2.50.
Salary Range
$13.00 /hour

The University of Northern Iowa Educational Talent Search - Cedar Rapids is a free educational program designed to assist 6th-12th grade participants in their preparation for enrollment into any college of their choice. Participants are
provided academic support, career counseling, and financial aid resources. Two-thirds of students served must qualify as low-income and first-generation. The program is funded by the U.S. Department of Education.
