Job Description: Interviewers play a vital role at the Center for Social and Behavioral Research (CSBR). They conduct scientific studies using a Windows-based computer-assisted telephone interviewing (WinCATI) program. Using WinCATI, interviewers call and interview participants and accurately record their answers. Interviewers are professional, courteous, have excellent communication skills, and pay attention to fine detail.
 
Current topics: health risk behaviors, STEM education
 
Interviewers conduct interviews over the telephone, set up appointments as necessary, and code each call accordingly. Strong persuasion skills are important to try to convince reluctant participants to participate in the research project. There are no telemarketing or political calls and we do not ask for money. Maintaining confidentiality of the responses of all participants is critical.
 
Qualifications:
·      Speak English fluently
·      Enunciate clearly on the phone
·      Detail-oriented
·      Strong oral and written communication skills, including spelling and grammar
·      Ability to be persuasive
·      Have weekend & evening availability
·      Have flexible schedules
·      Have ability to adapt to changing work schedules and project demands

Expectations:
*Work a minimum of 12 hours per week
*Work at least 3 individual weekend shifts each month

- Iowa Department of Public Health
- Iowa Department of Natural Resources
- Black Hawk County Public Health
