Library Assistant - Resource Management Collections

Now Hiring for Spring 2023! Library Assistants in Resource Management

Library Resource Management has two openings for student employees who have the desire to learn and perform tasks that will benefit them through the time they are studying at the University, and help prepare them for post-college employment.

This position supports the work done in the unit which ultimately impacts the library’s ability to provide access to materials for our patrons. It requires someone who is reliable, self-motivated and able to set priorities on work assigned, and attention to detail is an integral part of this position. This student also provides assistance to, and frequently interacts with other library staff and students, faculty, vendors, and the public, and good customer service skills are desired. The preferred student possesses the ability to ask questions, think creatively, learn to work with Adobe and/or Microsoft Publisher products when creating displays, and to use specialized software to export and create records in the library's system. Typical tasks include answering phones, word processing, searching the library’s integrated library system for records relating to orders, and assisting with processing gifts.

Hourly Wage Rate: $10.00
Hours Per Week: 10-15
Schedule: Hours to be scheduled between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday around your daytime class schedule. Summer hours are also a possibility.
Preferred start date: February 6, 2023 or after hiring paperwork is completed

Required qualifications:
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and Word is required.
  • Familiarity with Google documents and sheets
  • Must be available to work hours Monday-Friday (no weekends or evenings), and available between the hours of 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
  • Strong communication skills, detail-orientedness, with proficient keyboarding skills, the ability to set priorities, multitask and be interrupted; ability to follow verbal and written instructions and ask questions; and the willingness to learn.
  • Must be able to lift boxes up to 25 pounds and maneuver book trucks.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Experience with Adobe products and Adobe Publisher, and/or Microsoft Publisher is preferred.
