Test Reader and/or Scribe for Student Accessibility Testing Center
Job Description:
UNI students with disabilities utilize accommodations for a variety of reasons and the accommodations vary from student to student. Student Accessibility Services Testing Center provides accommodations related to tests. This job is specifically related to verbally reading tests aloud to students and/or typing student responses to test questions as indicated by Student Accessibility Services.
This role is based on the needs of the students, so this will be a varying schedule with a maximum of 10 hours/week (with a flux of hours during midterms and finals week) between the hours of 8am-430pm Monday through Friday throughout the semester.
General responsibilities include:
- Clearly, reading tests or quizzes to an individual student, at the student’s pace, and pausing for the student to answer the question before moving on (at their cue) to the next question.
- Each student is unique, so it may be best to ask questions about how you can best serve the student as their Reader or Scribe
- Accurately scribe student responses to test questions, likely by typing short answer or essay responses. There may be an occasional need to handwrite responses (fill in the blank, label a diagram, etc.)
- Maintain confidentiality at all times
Specific information related to expectations for customer service, attitude, communication, and teamwork is provided during training and the onboarding process.
Please note that this position is only available for students in graduate level programs.
Compensation:
Student employees will be paid an hourly rate of $12 per hour.
