Library Services - Library Student Manager

Rod Library is seeking to fill three Library Student Manager positions at our fast-paced and dynamic Library Services desk.

Library Student Managers are part of a dedicated team that make up the front line of the main service desk at UNI’s Rod Library.  These students take a leadership role at the Library Services desk, acting as functional supervisors for other student employees at the desk at times when full time staff are not available, taking the lead on opening the library on weekends, and closing the library every night, making sure the library is empty, safe, and secured at closing.  Library Student Managers complete more complex tasks at the desk and have a strong knowledge of library policy and procedures.  

 

Number of Openings: 3
Hourly Wage Rate: $14.00
Hours Per Week: 10-20
Schedule: Some nights and weekends required.
Job Duration: Continuing throughout the year. 
Preferred start date: TBD, possible start date late Summer/early Fall 2024


Required qualifications:

  • Library or equivalent experience. 
  • Leadership experience.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to shift books on the shelf.
  • Ability to move objects up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to reach and bend to shelve materials on shelves. 


Preferred qualifications:

  • Reliability, dependability, professionalism, good problem solving skills, and the ability to complete projects accurately and efficiently.
