Career Assistant (Work Study Eligible Students)
About the Career Assistant
In this position, you will help UNI students 1:1 with career prep. This job has three main responsibilities:
- Human Resources - You will post jobs, review incoming job/employer postings, and complete hiring paperwork for student employees on the UNI campus.
- Career Coaching - You will coach students in preparing for the application process. This includes reviewing resumes, providing mock interviews, and presenting to student organizations.
- Projects - Each CA will be assigned a project to manage after being fully trained. Previous examples include: accounts payable/receivable, billing, First Destination Collection, event management, marketing, social media or similar and will be assigned based upon need and your career plans.
This position starts at $12 per hour ( with opportunities for a raise) and requires between 6-15 hours per week. Schedules are set prior to each semester and remain the same each week of the semester. There will be opportunities to work more hours at various times throughout the semester.

What Career Services Needs?
- Schedule. This position starts August 2024. We kick off the semester with a required training day every semester. This fall our training day will be 10am-1pm on August 24th. We need someone who can work consistent hours on Mondays and Wednesdays throughout the semester. Ideally, you will be able to attend our biweekly trainings/meetings (time TBD). In the spring semester, a new schedule and training session would be established. We always schedule around your classes between the hours of 8am-4:30pm, M-F.
- Interesting People. We like students who have broad interests, are passionate about UNI, and love helping others. We want to create a diverse team of people, thinking, and way of doing Career Services.
- Some Experience. We do not need you to be an expert when you apply, but if you have experience in retail, customer service, sales, HR, teaching, or similar - tell us about it.
- Preferences: A student who is Work Study eligible (and not using it at another on-campus job) is an ideal candidate. Additionally, ideal candidates have at least 3 semesters prior to graduation. Please add on your resume if you are Federal Work Study eligible and the month and year you graduate.
