Public Relations Assistant

Rod Library is seeking to fill a public relations assistant position in our Public Relations office.

The public relations assistant assists the Marketing and Public Relations Specialist with PR and marketing projects for the library. This position offers hands-on experience to enrich a passion and interest in graphic design and social media. The assistant will gain visibility into the inner workings and aspects of library public relations that can be transferred to other areas of public relations and marketing. Projects assigned will include creating physical, digital, and video products for sharing electronically and physically in campus buildings and the community. 


Number of Openings: 1
Hourly Wage Rate: $13.00
Hours Per Week: 10-15
Job Duration: Academic year only (Fall & Spring Semesters)
Schedule: Desired hours of availability between Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 5 p.m., with an occasional night and weekend for events. 
Preferred start date: 09/02/24


Required qualifications:

  • Education and/or experience in fields of graphic design, public relations, marketing and/or communication, or related field of study.
  • Experience with social media platforms Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
  • Adobe design software experience.
  • Project management software experience.

  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Adaptable with the ability to work independently
  • Experience with using a digital camera.
  • Ability to independently problem solve.
  • Attention to detail.
