Gallery Social Media Specialist- WORK STUDY ONLY
Gallery of Art Social Media Specialist: is responsible for the following: maintaining an active social media presence for the UNI Gallery of Art and Permanent Collection. This position will work with the Gallery Director on developing and executing social media strategies, creating (writing, video, and photo) and sharing engaging content, optimizing UNI Gallery of Art pages, moderating user-generated content, analyzing social data, and working in harmony with the rest of the Gallery staff. Gallery Social Media Specialist may also work as a Gallery Guard to cover weekly hours while creating content.
The ideal applicant for this position has suitable skills, including:
• Social media: The ability to use social media to maintain and build the UNI Gallery of Art following. The Gallery of Art Social Media Specialist is expected to regularly post text, video and images that engage the Gallery of Art’s target market, follow online conversations on the Gallery of Art’s social media accounts and work with the Gallery of Art Director to solve social media audience concerns using social media platforms.
• Communication: Great verbal and written communication skills are essential. Must identify social media events, strong hashtags, and sensitive topics, and share appropriate content that aligns with the UNI Gallery of Art’s social media strategy.
• Creativity: Crafting engaging content in a timely fashion on a regular schedule is important in this roll.
• Technology: Computer/phone/camera/design skills using social media platforms is a requirement for this position.
• Research: Skills in learning social media trends, identifying new social media tools and finding ideas for exciting content are necessary for this position.
• After Hours Events: The UNI Gallery of Art hosts a handful of events after regular business hours. The Gallery of Art Social Media Specialist is expected to attend events or have a plan in place to have after hours event coverage for social media content.
Gallery Guards are responsible for the following: maintaining the security of the exhibition spaces; answering visitor questions in person and on the phone; notating the attendance of individuals and groups; working in harmony with the rest of the Gallery staff; and occasionally assisting with other duties such as guarding at special events and routine cleaning of the space.
Must have approved WORK STUDY funding.
The applicant must have enrolled in classes at UNI and have approved WORK STUDY funding.
