Marketing Communications Graduate Assistant

                       Position Title: Marketing/Communications Graduate Assistant

 

Reports to: 

Beth Bruns, Marketing & Communications Manager (beth.bruns@uni.edu)

 

Terms of Employment:

  • For the Fall semester 10 hours per week, beginning August 26, 2024 and ending December 20, 2024 (dates might vary upon approval of the academic calendar).
  • For the Spring semester 10 hours per week, beginning January 21, 2025 and ending May 16, 2025 (dates might vary upon approval of the academic calendar).

Compensation:

  • Graduate Assistantship stipend is $3,000 for a half-time appointment (10 hours per week). Stipend is prorated depending on start date.
  • Graduate Assistants and their spouses may qualify for in-state tuition.
  • Graduate Assistants may receive University holidays and do not work during the interims between semesters.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide support with GROE social media scheduling and asset development: duties include developing a social schedule, developing/maintaining posts/content, and running analytics. Research a LinkedIn presence as a strategy for GROE.
  • Assist with marketing/communication recruitment tactics for residential graduate programs; develop Google Ad keyword and retargeting content for all graduate (residential and online) programs as well as general GROE Google ads.
  • Develop content for GROE newsletters; work with other GROE staff on scheduling and generating content for Graduate Coordinator newsletter and/or other marketing/communication needs.
  • Assist with all GROE outreach events and conferences; oversee the inventory of the Graduate Viewbook and individual program inserts; maintain GROE alumni/current student testimonial documentation and provide assistance with outreach to alumni/current students when needed.
  • Create and oversee email and newsletter copy for all IACC communications each term; work with IACC Director on the development of a new IACC MarComm toolkit that provides support for all community college locations
  • Provide support and assist with all GROE marketing initiatives as needed.
  • Other projects as assigned which may include Live Purple Give Gold promotion, UNI 150-year promotion, and Homecoming Event support

 

General Qualifications:

  • Must be a full-time (enrolled in at least 9 eligible credits), degree-seeking student in a UNI's residential graduate program.
  • Be regularly admitted without provisions to degree status in an eligible graduate degree program.
  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00. First semester graduate students must have an undergraduate GPA of at least 2.75.
  • Have an official transcript on file in the Office of Admissions and be fully declared in their graduate major.
  • Must meet UNI's HRS employment eligibility.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of marketing and communication principles, including digital advertising and social media marketing
  • Experience using Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)
