Student Intern, Food Beverage & Organics Program
The Iowa Waste Reduction Center (IWRC) located at the University of Northern Iowa is hiring a student intern to assist with the Food Beverage & Organics Program. This program works to reduce organic waste headed to the landfill by implementing grant funded projects, assisting clients, and working with breweries across the state to reduce their overall environmental impact. The hired student intern will be conducting research about municipalities across the Upper Midwest to help identify communities with environmental needs that would benefit from food waste compost training as well as training focused on compost use to prevent pollution of local water resources. In addition, the student intern will be working within the Iowa Green Brewery Certification Program.
Essential skills include self-motivation, the ability to work independently and within a team environment, and proficient writing skills. Recommended but not required is an understanding about environmental issues and solutions as well as a desire to garner success through development of ideas and initiatives that forward environmental stewardship provided by the IWRC.
