Title: UNI-CUE Tutoring Center Tutor
The University of Northern Iowa Center for Urban Tutoring Center was established in 2010 as an outreach program serving Black Hawk County students in grades K-12. The learning environment at the Tutoring Center is success-oriented and offers opportunities for students to succeed academically, increase their self-esteem, and become more productive within their community.
We are looking for passionate individuals to join our team as a tutor and help students learn!
Responsibilities:
- Provide academic tutoring to K-12 students to support homework completion and improve their overall subject matter understanding
- Record time spent with students and complete progress reports as required
- Participate in team meetings, either in person or virtually
- Proactively communicate with staff about any questions
- Submit weekly time cards
Qualifications:
- Ability to work in-person at UNI Center for Urban Education (UNI-CUE) Tutoring Center (800 Sycamore Street, Waterloo, IA 50703)
- Willingness and ability to support K-12 students in at least one of the listed subject areas: math, science, english, or foreign language
- One semester of volunteer or work experience tutoring.
- Available to provide tutoring during any or all of the following shifts: Tuesday- Thursday 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
- Patient, reliable, punctual, and have good communication skills
