Job Title: Program Assistant - UNI-CUE 5th Grade Leadership Academy (Summer 2025)

Position Type: Paid Summer Position
Hourly Rate: $15/hr
Program Dates: June 20 - July 18, 2025
Work Hours: Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM - 2:00 PM

Overview:
The UNI-CUE 5th Grade Leadership Academy is a dynamic four-week summer program designed to support students during the important transition from elementary to middle school. The program provides students with opportunities to engage in math, reading, writing, STEM, and leadership activities. UNI-CUE is seeking a passionate and dedicated program assistant to join our team for the summer of 2025. The ideal candidate will help foster an engaging and supportive learning environment for students while helping to assist instructors to implement all curriculum and program activities. 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist program director and instructors in implementing all program activities; including coursework and field trips.
  • Assist students in completion of course work and projects.
  • Keeps daily attendance chart.
  • Photographs program events and activities
  • Drive a van with up to six students in travel to and from home and during numerous field trips.
  • Assure safety of students attending programs.
  • Work with 5th grade students on a daily basis, Monday through Friday.
  • Assist and participate in all program activities, such as field trips to UNI campus and various places in the community.
  • Attend professional staff meetings as needed.

     

Qualifications:

  • Must have at least one year of experience working with youth, either in a paid or voluntary capacity.
  • Must be a highly motivated individual capable of working independently without supervision, knowledgeable, open-minded, and friendly.
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be self-motivated.
  • Must know and enforce safety procedures.
  • Must have knowledge of basic first aid.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
  • Must be flexible, trustworthy, and have the physical ability to fully participate in all program activities.
  • Must be accountable with a strong attendance record.
  •  Prefer an individual who is capable of driving a van to pick up six students from home to UNI-CUE every morning and back home at the end of the program each day.  This individual should be capable of driving a van with six program participants during numerous field trips.

Additional Information:

  • This position is a paid summer opportunity, with a schedule of Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM - 2:00 PM.
  • Applicants must be available for the full duration of the program (June 20 - July 18, 2025).
  • The position involves participation in both classroom assistance and extracurricular activities such as day trips.

Employment is pending approval of background check and driving record check.
